Out of my comfort zone

I first saw this on Dana's blog. She first saw it on Amy's blog. Amy said not to get too hung up on the fabric. She said if you like it, you should use it. I love Amy's quilts. Both of them. I love Dana's. I do not love mine. I like each piece of fabric I used. Just not sure I like them together. I'm normally a very ordered, planned, two-to-three color quilter. This quilt is crazy to me. I tried to group the colors together. My husband does not like it at all.
My 15-year-old daughter LOVES it. So I guess it can be hers. I finished the top several months ago, but I needed some distance from it. It went together quickly, but I just needed to not look at it for a while.
Maybe from this distance -- yep, it's a little better. And maybe once I get it quilted, I will like it more. In the meantime, I need to decide what to put on the back! I guess with a quilt like this, anything goes!

If your teenager really likes it...I gave my daughter a quilt she liked that I disliked and on the back I put a bunch of scrap strips. In between the strips I had some 2 inch wide kona ivory. Well she brings the quilt with her to camp and to sleepovers and her friends sign all over the back. It's great a real memory.

I like it! I think it will grow on you as you quilt it. I have no idea what you should do for the back, but I really liked quilting circles in the circles. Can't wait to see it finished.

I like this quilt a lot. It is like painting, sometimes you have get far away and look at it, like on a clothesline or fence and see how wonderful it is.

I'm not good with scrappy multi-colored quilts either. But I'm sure you'll be happier as you get the quilting done--I'm not happy with most of my tops til the quilting is done! That's great that your daughter loves it :)

I quite like it. I think you will love it more once it's quilted and bound. be sure to use something like warm and natural in it so you get a crinkly shrinky feel to it once it's washed up!

Well I love it!! Think the colours are great and in the winter (which we have a lot of in Scotland!) it
will brighten up the dullest of days. :0)
